Burial Traditions of Forest Home Cemetery
Discover the rich history of Forest Home Cemetery & Arboretum on an exclusive tour with Ellenbecker Investment Group.
At Milwaukee’s oldest operating cemetery established in 1850 and located in the city’s new immigrant neighborhood, burial trends have evolved over nearly two centuries and include the traditions of many cultures (tour includes a glimpse of Muslim, Hmong, and Latino burial traditions).
Participants will join a 1.5-mile guided walking tour through part of the 200-acre grounds and learn about burial trends over time, including the evolution of green burials, burial traditions of various cultures, and current burial trends.
Following the tour, you may choose to visit Prairie Rest, the green burial section of the cemetery, which follows natural practices to coexist among the vibrant growth of its habitat.
*Participants should be prepared to walk 1.5 miles outdoors over varied terrain.
Hosted offsite at Forest Home Cemetery & Arboretum. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to the venue.
