 Meet Heather

Heather joined Ellenbecker Investment Group in 2016. She works with clients to identify their goals and navigate their financial journey with confidence and conviction. Heather takes a collaborative and educational approach with a bit of humor to help clients feel at ease and comfortable talking about their finances. Throughout her career, she has grown her passion for relationships, client experience and commitment to service, while leveraging her industry knowledge and strengths.

Heather started her professional career in 1993 with the Federal Reserve Bank of St Louis, providing economic data analysis and research support to PhD economists. She moved to Bank of America in credit risk analysis and project management, expanding on her organizational and planning strengths. Before EIG, Heather was at Northwestern Mutual as a business technology consultant at the corporate office and the operations director for a wealth management group in the field. 

Heather graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from UW-Eau Claire. She has successfully passed her Series 65 Uniform Investment Adviser Law exam and holds her Health and Life Insurance licenses. Heather has been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional since 2019 after completing educational course requirements in Financial Planning, Retirement Planning, Tax Planning, Estate Planning and Insurance Planning. In 2020, Heather became a Chartered SRI Counselor (CSRIC™), gaining knowledge of the foundations, principles and trends of sustainable, responsible and impact investing. This allows her to specialize in sustainable investing strategies and integration with clients. 

Heather, her husband Eric Oquist and their two sons live in Wauwatosa. Their time together is spent cooking, hiking, biking and playing board games. Heather has a passion for service, sustainability and relationships. She is on the Fondy Food Center board of directors, bringing healthy food and economic opportunity to Greater Milwaukee through farmers markets, land access and food security. At St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Heather is a trained Stephen Minister, providing one-on-one comfort and support to people experiencing a life crisis. She has also built strong relationships with faith partners through mission trips to Tanzania and El Salvador.
